Sound in Translation is a software tool that supports dj’s, producers and musicians when performing and composing, by suggesting loops that fit the music they are playing. Loops are created from the user’s music collection, using automatically computed musical information. The created loop are then arranged and sliced in a (e.g. 64) button grid using beat information. The user can then play different patterns in each of the loops, which are repeated.
This project started in the BCN Music Hack Day 2015, and won the incubation award from #MusicBricks, a european project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020. It has been presented in Sonar 2015, MTF Central 2015, MTF Berlin 2016, BLE Music 2016, Algorave and other venues.
